Mark your calendars for La Lucha Sigue, Voz's 19th Annual Dinner. For 19 years we have fought for fair wages, work with dignity, communities without borders, and movements led by those on the frontlines. Join us to celebrate our incredible community of leaders and our victories in the movement for immigrant and worker rights. Eat, drink, dance, and support immigrant worker-led organizing.
This is a big year for Voz, full of exciting changes and growth.
Growing our workforce development program to provide a Basic Training to all Voz workers in addition to opportunities for skills certification and pathways to skilled jobs.
Strengthening our leadership development program to provide our leaders with 1:1 mentorship and more opportunities to engage as leaders in the community.
Expanding our wage theft clinic to serve more workers per year and lead on local policy efforts to put an end to wage theft altogether.
Gearing up to build a permanent home for day laborers by purchasing the MLK Jr. Worker Center lot and developing a full service community hub for day laborers.
We have so much to look forward to, and we can’t do it without your support.
La lucha sigue, will you join us?

Commissioner Jayapal represents Multnomah County District 2, where she has lived for almost 25 years. She was born in India, and came to the United States when she was 16, to go to college. After getting her law degree, Susheela took on corrupt and negligent banks, and provided free legal services to people seeking political asylum in the United States. As General Counsel at Adidas America, she created Adidas' first set of labor standards to be applied to contracted factories overseas.
As important as that work was and still is, the pull to have a more direct impact on the lives of people in her community was stronger. That’s why she left her legal career nearly 20 years ago, working in nonprofit leadership positions with community organizations such as Planned Parenthood of the Columbia-Willamette, Portland Schools Foundation, All Hands Raised, Literary Arts, Metropolitan Family Services, and the Regional Arts & Culture Council. She has also been a grant evaluator for the Oregon Community Foundation, managed the Nike Community Impact Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation, and served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children in foster care.
Voz is proud to feature Commissioner Jayapal as the keynote speaker for our 19th Annual Dinner! Her lifelong commitment to immigrant and worker rights, and to building a County where all residents can thrive, mirrors our own mission and vision!
